Tuition and Fees
- Membership for the SYP’s youth orchestra programs is by the season which runs from August to May of the following year.
- While students are expected to commit to the entire season, we also offer the opportunity to join mid-season every January.
- No mid-season joining is available in the Fall.
- Students currently enrolled at the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) receive discount when registering for the CSMA Junior Orchestra by the SYP.
Orchestra Programs’ Full Season (annual) Tuition:
- Audition fee: $35
- Registration fee: $90
- Advanced-level Program Tuition (The Sunnyvale Youth Philharmonic): $1,850 (for the entire academic year) if paid in full.
- Entry-level Program Tuition (CSMA by the SYP Junior Orchestra): $1,750 (for the entire academic year) if paid in full.
- Chamber Program (CSMA by the SYP Chamber): Tuition: $1,400 (for the entire academic year) if paid in full
- Payment plan option is available.
- Financial Assistance is available
- ***Important: Tuition is non-refundable.***
Fees Not Included: Concert tickets, private instruction, summer camps, masterclasses, orchestra tours, instruments, and instrument care are the responsibility of the student.
Orchestra Programs’ Mid Season Tuition:
Join mid-season to get a taste of our programs and receive the members’ early bird discount for the next season.
- Audition fee: $35
- Registration fee: $90
- Advanced-level Program Tuition: Early Bird – By December 20: $850. After December 20th: $900 (January-May) if paid in full.
- Entry-level Program Tuition: Early Bird – By December 20: $800. After December 20th: $850 (January-May) if paid in full.

Fees Not Included: Concert tickets, private instruction, summer camps, masterclasses, orchestra tours, instruments, and instrument care are the responsibility of the student.
Joining the Orchestra
- To join the orchestra, the first step is to book an audition. Our auditions happen year-long and happen on a rolling-basis.
- Selected students pay a registration fee and are then billed for tuition according to our membership options.
- Payment plans, sliding scale tuition, and scholarships are available.
- Tuition is seasonal and covers orchestral rehearsals and at least two main performances per season for students enrolled full season. Students who join mid-season in January play in one main performance.
Financial Assistance: Scholarships and Sliding Scale Tuition
- The SYP is committed to providing access to talented young musicians from the South Bay Area regardless of their financial circumstances.
